As a charitable educational institution, the Summerville Museum and Research Center qualifies as a 501(C)3 corporation, which means it qualifies for tax exemption. This makes it easier for the Museum to continue its mission of educating citizens about Summerville and Dorchester County. The IRS Letter of Determination for this is included below.
